Tappit aims to help independent retailers create some local buzz!

Get your outlet out there with this free App for Chichester independents

Get your outlet out there with this free App for Chichester independents

Nobody wants to see town centres that are left stranded, abandoned, empty and vacant. But finding new and additional ways for retailers and merchants to engage with and build loyalty with existing and new customers is difficult, expensive and time consuming.

Tappit is effectively an electronic billboard “App” for iPhone and Android smartphones.  The Tappit App is free of charge to download and use and allows consumers to have location-based information from retailers and other nearby businesses, in the palm of their hand. Why is that important? Most people use their mobile phone for local search because they want the information whilst they’re on the on-the-go. Mobile apps tend to be more location aware than desktop based web browsers.

Tappit gives independents and small brands a chance to compete on a far more level playing field with their larger competitors. It helps revitalize the high street by providing a dynamic focus and local ‘buzz’ that is about “my location”, thus creating a sense of belonging to a community. This can include retail, leisure and entertainment venues but also news, local history information, art galleries, museums, amateur sports, cultural events, and special interest clubs, etc.

It’s really easy for a retailer, restaurateur, small business or entertainment venue, to create an account and publish their advert FREE of charge. There’s no catch! However, just like FaceBook, Twitter and LinkedIn there is an opportunity for advertisers to pay a small amount for enhanced positioning and additional functionality but it is not compulsory.

During the last few years, retailers have been bombarded with offers to create special daily deals on Groupon, Living Social, Monster Deals, etc. The bad news for the advertiser is that the advertiser firstly has to provide a tempting discount of say 50% and then they have to split the revenue earned with the deal provider – so in they may end up having a huge response to their mouth watering deal but actually maybe making a loss.  With Tappit, if an advertiser promotes a special offer for £10 - the advertiser is paid the whole £10 directly by the consumer. The Tappit app is free to download and use so everyone wins!

The novelty of being bombarded with offers such as a 75% discount on a Pedicure in Pontypool or a 2‐for‐1 Massage and Facial in Felixstowe is beginning to lose its appeal! In contrast, Tappit provides local information that is directly relevant to the user’s location.
